Credit Category: Materials & Resources (MR)
LEED Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients
LEED Points: Possible 2 points
Applicable Requirement: Use one of two compliance paths for Cradle to Cradle® products: Material Ingredient Reporting (Option 1) or Product Manufacturer Supply Chain Optimization (Option 3)
Vitro Solutions
In 2008, as PPG Glass, Vitro Architectural Glass became the first U.S. glass manufacturer to have its entire collection of architectural glass products recognized by the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Products Program. Today, Vitro Glass’s product selection is Cradle to Cradle® Bronze certified. While Vitro Glass does not offer Health Product Declarations (HPDs) or provide Declare product labels, our Cradle to Cradle® v3 Bronze certification satisfies the same LEED credit category under Material Ingredient Reporting (Option 1).
LEED Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Environmental Product Declarations
LEED Points: Possible 2 points
Applicable Requirement: Use the Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) path (Option 1), which requires the use of at least 20 different permanently installed products sourced from at least five different manufacturers with EPDs that conform to ISO 14025, 14040, 14044, and EN 15804 or ISO 21930 and have at least a cradle to gate scope.
For an additional point, utilize the Multi-Attribute Optimization path (Option 2), which requires the use of products that comply with established criteria for 50% (by cost) of the total value of permanently installed products in the project.
As of July 2017, Vitro Architectural Glass is the first North American manufacturer to publish third-party verified Environmental Products Declarations (EPDs) for Flat Glass and Processed Glass products.
The documents provide detailed data about the life-cycle impacts of Vitro Glass products on the environment and may be used as credentialing for LEED and other green building certification programs.
