Vitro Glass Education Center adds three updated videos
Acoustics, lamination, decorative glass and managing thermal stress among rebranded videos
PITTSBURGH, October 3, 2019 — Vitro Architectural Glass (formerly PPG Glass) announced that it has added three updated videos to its newly rebranded Vitro Glass Education Center. Topics include:
- Determining the Right Glass for the Right Acoustics – This video highlights the sound-related factors architects and specifiers must consider when assessing a project’s design requirements and how they impact the glazing system, including whether to use Sound Transmission Class (STC) or Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class (OITC) ratings.
- Managing Thermal Stress Risk – This 4-minute presentation explains how thermal stress breaks glass and the factors that impact its ability to resist heat stress, such as glass types, coating type and orientation, outdoor shading patterns, indoor shading devices, heat register location and orientation, and framing systems.
- Bent and Laminated Glass Demonstration – This quick 3-minute video shows the glass bending and laminating processes from their beginnings at the cutting line to finished fabrication into insulating glass units (IGUs).
Nathan McKenna, segment marketing manager, Vitro Architectural Glass, said the videos help architects, specifiers, designers and students understand the versatility of glass and its ability to meet a wide range or architectural applications. “Building envelopes are becoming increasingly complex and building design is becoming increasingly sophisticated,” he explained. “These videos quickly demonstrate why glass is the ideal solution for so many building applications while demonstrating both its beauty and functionality.”
The Vitro Glass Education Center covers more than 40 different glass topics using a combination of videos, infographics, slide shows and articles. The library is continually expanding as well, with new topics added regularly based on the questions most frequently asked online or to Vitro Glass sales representatives and call center personnel.
