ARCHITECT magazine cites Acuity® glass for functionality, beauty
New low-iron glass combines affordability, clarity to expand aesthetic, performance options for architects
Acuity® low-iron glass by Vitro Architectural Glass was one of six new products highlighted by the editors of ARCHITECT magazine that showcase the beauty and functionality of glass. Acuity® glass features an advanced low-iron formulation that eliminates the green cast inherent to conventional clear glass, enabling architects to specify higher levels of clarity for vision and spandrel glass applications without compromising client budgets.
PITTSBURGH, March 14, 2019 — Vitro Architectural Glass (formerly PPG Glass) announced that Acuity® low-iron glass was one of six new products highlighted by the editors of ARCHITECT magazine that showcase the beauty and functionality of glass.
Introduced in September of 2018, Acuity® glass features an advanced low-iron formulation that eliminates the green cast inherent to conventional clear glass, enabling architects to specify higher levels of clarity for vision and spandrel glass applications without compromising client budgets.
Acuity glass is engineered for use in insulating glass units (IGUs) with Solarban® 60, Solarban® 67, Solarban® 72, Solarban® 90 and Solarban® R100 solar control low-e coatings. When used in combination with these products, Acuity glass can achieve visible light transmittance (VLT) of up to 73 percent and solar heat gain coefficients (SHGCs) ranging from 0.23 to 0.41, greatly expanding the range of aesthetic and performance options available to architects. Acuity® glass also is available in 6-millimeter thicknesses for monolithic spandrel glass applications to ensure truer color rendition.
The ARCHITECT bi-weekly, e-newsletter is circulated to more than 94,000 architecture professionals worldwide. Acuity® glass was featured in an article titled “Six Applications for Glass.”
Acuity® glass is available exclusively through members of the Vitro Certified® Network. To learn more about Acuity® low-iron glass, or to find a Vitro Certified® Network member in your area, visit www.vitroglazings.com or call 1-855-VTRO-GLS (887-6457).
